| One
of the first realizations i had about Srila Prabhupada was in 1988. It
was just before i joined the movement and became a full time devotee. I
was visiting my parents house and because only my brother and the dog
were in, i thought i would take advantage and play a Srila Prabhupada
kirtana full blast and purify the atmosphere there. I chanted in
response to Srila Prabhupada and after a short while, i was joined by my
younger brother and the dog. The dog was making the most unusual sounds,
he was actually chanting in his own way. I realized a little of the
power of Srila Prabhupada's transcendental vibration and how he was able
to penetrate through the dense coverings of tamo guna manifest in the
form of the dog. He awakened the soul within, and induced him to chant
Hare Krishna. After the kirtana Srila Prabhupada said:
We have seen it practically. Even a child can take part in the chanting, or even a dog can take part in it. The chanting should be heard, however, from the lips of a pure devotee of the Lord, so that immediate effect can be achieved. (Hare Krishna mantra purport) Mukunda dasa.
